Head, Heart & Eye showcases three contemporary photographic image makers, Adrian Ashman, Sandra McEwan & Keith Barnett. Through their unique perspectives, these photographers offer a powerful exploration of how the world is perceived through the head, the heart, and the eye.
Adrian Ashman
My contribution to this exhibition is an intensely personal one. In my mind’s eye, each photograph triggers clear—and sometimes blurry—recollections of my childhood through to early adulthood that align with the joys, sadness, forebodings, and liberations that punctuated that period of my life. Fortunately, without the immediacy or intensity of the consequences at the time.
Sandra McEwan
I am honoured to be a part of this exhibition, sharing my journey from the unique beauty of the Granite Belt to the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand.
Photography to me is more than capturing a moment - it's an art form that intertwines the head, heart and eye. Each image tells a story, evoking thought, emotion and connection. I hope my work inspires you to not only see the world differently but to feel it and experience it new ways.
Keith Barnett
Most of my images here have their roots in the environment, whether it be flora, fauna or geology. It’s amazing how marvelous nature really is when you stop and think about it. Sometimes it gets into you head, sometimes your heart, and it’s always worth looking at with your eyes. The texture, the composition, the colours and the light all leave the artist with a never-ending source of material to work with.
In this exhibition, I have endeavoured to showcase some of nature’s handiwork, the colours and textures, the composition and the light, as seen through my camera’s lens. There are so many scenes that we walk past and don’t even see. Why don’t we take more time to embrace our surroundings?
I hope you enjoy looking at these images, and that you’ll go out and see something that affects your head or heart.
